CGC Jhanjeri commemorated World No Tobacco DayStudents conduct Awareness rally against tobacco

The World No Tobacco Day was observed at Chandigarh group of Colleges, Jhanjeri through flurry of activities. At the moment rising figures of tobacco consumption and related hazards were also discussed. This program was mainly conducted to improve the awareness among students and youngsters about harms of tobacco consumption, possible risks of cancer related to tobacco use and major cardiovascular disorders. More than 500 students from different disciplines participated in this program and supported to promote smoking cessation. Students also took pledge to promote the theme “Say No to smoking”.
This program was inaugurated by CGC President Rachpal Singh Dhaliwal with key message on risk of cancer with tobacco use. According to him it is need of the hour to spread awareness, especially among the youth, about the harmful effects of tobacco products. He further explained in detail the havoc that cause by smoking of cigarettes, bidis and use of gutkha and pan masala, inflicted upon the human body, besides polluting the environment. He said there is a need to inculcate moral values among the youth so that they could say no to drugs.
The rally was also organzed to aimed at creating awareness and motivation towards tobacco cessation among masses. More than 50 students and faculty members of CGC Jhanjeri campus participated in the event. The rally was flagged off from Main gate CGC & entered Jhanjeri village .
The students motivated the villagers towards tobacco cessation and spreading the message about harmful effects of tobacco. The rally was flagged off by Dr. Neeraj Sharma Executive Director, Dr. Anupam K Sharma Director Academics & Registrar, Dr. Vinod Kumar, Dr. Vishal Sagar, Dr. Tufail Khan, Dr. Ashwani K Sharma & Dr. Sachin Sharma. The event was a collaborative program of NCC & NSS Unit & Dept. of Student Welfare of the CGC Jhanjeri campus
