Department of Psychiatry GMCH-32, Chandigarh organized a Disability camp

The experts from the Department of Psychiatry Eye, ENT and Orthopedics of GMCH-32, examined the patients in their respective fields. The main purpose of this disability camp was to bring all the services under one umbrella i.e. assessment of various disabilities by the experts, calculating the degree of disability, issuing disability certificates and providing certificates for availing various concessions at their door step.This will cut down the cost of availing the disability certificate as well as the time spent in getting the certificate from the Hospital. Hence, Disability assessment of many patients was done by the experts from various specialties.

This Camp was organized under the supervision of Prof Priti Arun Head of the Department of Psychiatry, GMCH and SRC team Dr. Karuna Singh (Incharge)and Mr. Jasvir Singh( social worker). Experts from various specialites Dr. Ruchi ( ortho), Dr. Smriti Mahajan ( psychoatry), Dr. Manpreet Bajaj ( Eye), Dr. Apoorva Raina ( ENT), and others conducted assessments of PWD. Councillor Jasbir Singh helped in organizing this camp and were himself present during camp.

In this camp, 63 patients of various disabilities registered themselves and out of them 11 had Orthopedic problem, had 07 Eye (vision disability) 08 had hearing impairment. In this camp 15 Intellectual Disability assessment 05 Mental illness, 06 Railway concession certificates, 17 pension, 13 Disability Certificate, 30 UDID were issued by Experts of various Departments of GMCH and Social Welfare and DC office Chandigarh.
