Chandigarh: President, Haryana Pradesh Congress Committee, Kumari Selja today lashed out at the BJP government on several issues including infiltration by the Chinese Army in the Indian border, the rampant increase in petrol and diesel prices, and increasing unemployment. She said that the BJP government at the center and the state have proved to be a failure on every front and the country was being misled by the BJP government to hide its failed policies.
The day of June 26 was observed as 'Shaheedon Ko Salam Divas' to pay tribute to the brave martyrs of the Galwan Valley in the entire Haryana as directed by the Indian National Congress and Kumari Selja reached Narnaul today to pay tribute to the brave martyrs. She said that these brave martyrs have sacrificed their lives to protect the country. The country can can never forget their sacrifice and it will always be indebted to these brave martyrs, she added.
Later, while addressing a press conference, Kumari Selja asked why the BJP government had sent our brave soldiers to Galwan Valley without weapons. Why did the BJP government allow the Chinese army to infiltrate in the Galwan Valley. Besides, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave a shocking statement in the all-party meeting, claiming that "neither there has been any infiltration into our border, nor any of our post was in the possession of any other". But the news published in every newspaper, the satellite photos and defense experts have clearly confronted Prime Minister's claim of no intrusion into our border. The country was seeking answers from the government on these questions, she added.
Cornering the government on the continuous increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, Kumari Selja said that today the prices of petrol and diesel have been increasing in the country for the last 20 days. At many places, diesel prices have outpaced prices of petrol and exceeded Rs 80. The people of the country and the state, who were financially weak during the lockdown in the pandemic, hoped that the central and state government would provide some relief. But far from relief, this unrelenting and heartless government was adding to the problems of people. The government has broken the backbone of farmers, transporters and the general public by increasing the prices of petrol and diesel.
Since the lockdown, petrol prices have increased by about Rs 10 and diesel prices by more than Rs 17.05. In 20 days, petrol has become costlier by Rs 8.87 per liter while the price of diesel has increased by Rs 10.79 per liter. She said that crude oil prices were at their lowest in the international market, but still the government was looting the public. She said that just a few days ago, during the lockdown, the state government had increased VAT by one rupee per liter on petrol and by Rs 1.10 on diesel. Due to continuous increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, the poor, farmers, middle class, traders were suffering and it will increase inflation and will affect the people. But the central and state governments were not paying any attention to this.
Kumari Selja blamed the BJP government's policies on rising unemployment. Now, due to unplanned lockdown in view of the corona epidemic, the unemployment has increased considerably. The industries set up in Haryana during the Congress rule have been completely destroyed in this government. Mass layoffs were taking place in the private sector. At the same time, this government was not providing government jobs. Far from giving new jobs, this government was bent on snatching jobs. By taking new decisions every day, this government was harassing the youth of the state. She said that now the government has decided that after joining Group D posts, the applicant will not be allowed to apply in any other recruitment for next five years. This government was attacking the rights of the people of the state, she added.
Kumari Selja also said that the law and order in the state has completely broken down. Incidents of rape, kidnapping, extortion, robbery can be seen in newspapers on daily basis. The NCRB figures were witness to the fact that crime had increased rapidly in this government, but this government was failing to curb the crimes.
Before the press conference, Kumari Selja also reached out to support the ongoing strike of PTI teachers in Narnaul. She said that 1983 PTI teachers were suffering due to cancellation of recruitment, but the government was not taking care of them. These teachers also have 10 years of experience. Therefore, the state government should provide relief to these teachers. The Congress party stands firmly with the PTI teachers and the Congress party will raise voice for these teachers, wherever required.
