Welcome-cum-interaction program held with SHO's of Sector -11 &17 at Community Center of Sector-15

A unique program was carried out by the Councillor of ward no. 12, Saurabh Joshi, where the newly posted SHO'S of Sec-11&17 , Insp. Gyan Singh and Insp.Rajiv Kumar were honoured and welcomed by the residents of his entire ward no.12. The key speaker Acharya Swami Rajeshwranand ji Maharaj delivered a spiritually enlightened speech concerning the need for compassion, empathy and tolerance in our society.
Various Associations, RWA's, Representatives of various religious places of Sector-15,16,24, 17 as well as the enthusiastic residents from the entire ward no. 12 come with their representations and voiced various concerns about the security in their respective sectors. The Associations too handed their representations through the Area Councillor to the new SHO's.
The common problems faced by the residents was the nuisance caused by illegal street vendors who mushroom up around 7pm till late 11 ,every night. The liquor vends too are operational late in the night and people are seen urinating in the open and using foul language without any restrain. To make the sectors safe for women and children , the residents requested for night patrolling so that such miscreants are kept in check. They also requested to deploy police in the major Green belts to hush the anti- social elements and activities. As a number of P.G's are sprouting, specially in Sector-15, residents demanded night bike patrolling. They also brought to light the rise in number of cases of thefts. The senior citizens requested to circulate the phone numbers of the beat officers so that they can call them promptly,whenever in trouble. The Representatives of religious places ,specially temples, urged to deploy police in the evening to safeguard women. The need of barricading by the Chandigarh police in the markets was too raised.
The SHO's heard the grievances and concerns of the people and assured them prompt action and provide them carefree and safe environment.
Acharya Swami Rajeshwranand ji Maharaj delivered a spiritually enlightening speech, emphasizing the need of tolerance for each other and about mutual understanding and trust among the neighbours. He enumerated various quotes from religious texts to enunciate the need to be peaceful inside so that there is balance outside. He expounded how police can work as a buffer between two neighbours and create balance with compassion and calm mediation.
Swami ji lauded the initiative taken by Saurabh Joshi and said," with his out of the box thinking, Joshi has brought police , people and spiritual guidance on one platform". Sant Naveen Sarhadi ji Maharaj from Valmiki Shakti Peeth came and blessed Saurabh Joshi to keep up the good work.
Both the SHO's admired the councillors efforts which had helped them to understand ground realities from the people face to face. Residents as well thanked their Councillor for easy and direct interaction with the police officials.
