YOGDHARA: A prelude to 9th International Day of Yoga Celebrated

Government College of Yoga Education and Health, Sector 23 Chandigarh in collaboration with Morarji Desai institute of National Institute of Yoga, Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India conducted Yogdhara, a countdown program for 9th International Day of Yoga based on the theme of ‘Har Ghar Aangan Yog’. The programme commenced at 06:30 A.M. with the practice of Common Yoga Protocol at Garden of Silence, Sukhna Lake, Chandigarh. The Chief Guest during the occasion was Mr. Akhil Kumar, Director, AYUSH, Chandigarh Administration. There was an overwhelming response in the common Yoga protocol. The organizing secretary of the programme was Ms. Sarghi Kohli. This was followed by a Hybrid International Conference on Relevance of Yoga and Ayurveda in Modern Life at Navrang Auditorium of Bal Bhawan, Sector 23, Chandigarh from 11:00 A.M. onwards. The principal of the college Dr. Mahender Singh Jangra welcomed the Chief Guest of the conference of opening ceremony Sh. Amandeep Singh, PCS, Director Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration and other dignitaries which was followed by a mesmerizing Yoga Demonstration.
Many eminent speakers from all over the world, joined and shared their pearls of wisdom in the conference, Dr. Girish Jha, Yogacharya from USA, Ms. Ghadir, Yoga Teacher from Syria, Ms. Meena Heesham Yoga Teacher from Iran, Dr. Ishwar N. Acharya from Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, Dr Kamkhaya Kumar, Head, Uttarakhand University, Haridwar. Professor Vd. Arpan Bhatt, Dean P&D ITRA and Dr. Bharat Singh, International Yogacharya joined online for the conference and other speakers were Dr. G. D. Sharma, former Registrar, University of Patanjali, Haridwar, Dr. Indu Sharma, Assistant Professor, Morarji Desai Institute of Yoga and Dr. Gurdish Brar, Consultant Ayurveda were present offline for the conference. The organizing secretary of the programme were Dr. Anupma.
All the speakers emphasized and highlighted the importance of Yoga and Ayurveda in the current scenario of the modern world with their practical sessions and talks. Dr. Jaideep Arya, Chairman, Haryana Yoga Aayog was Chief Guest of the closing ceremony. The aim of the programme was to create awareness about the ancient practices of Yoga and Ayurveda among masses. More than 700 participants joined the Yogdhara programme. Mr. Rajiv Uppal and Ms. Meetu delivered the vote of thanks.
